The ACCELERATOR programme of the SUSRUR project has come to an end.
During the Accelerator program of the SUSRUR project, SMEs from Asturias, Western Macedonia, Harghita, Utena, Steirisches Vulkanland, had the incredible opportunity to delve deep into the realm of sustainable tourism, exploring and further developing innovative strategies. A highlight was the immersive study visit to the breathtaking region of Steirisches Vulkanland, Austria, on 14-15 March 2024, with participation of SMEs from Lithuania and Spain.
The programme started with a reception of the participants in the Hotel “Villa-Thermale”, followed by the presentation of local associations and companies, like Tourism Association “Thermen & Vulkanland”, 5komma5sinne, Krispel Vinery and Zotter Chocolate. The second day was dedicated to outdoor activities. Participants had the opportunity to choose from a list of outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling etc. The selection was made on the basis of the needs, which best met the required purpose. These locations and activities were the following: Wine trail of the senses (Weinweg der Sinne), Traminerweg Klöch, Bad Loipersdorf Wine Experience Trail, Murauen Trail, Wasserweg and In the footsteps of the volcanoes.
This visit reinforced the participants in the belief that every individual and business have a vital role to play: reducing the environmental footprint, increasing the social footprint, supporting local communities, promoting the cultural heritage - there are countless ways to make an impact. From artisanal chocolate makers to boutique wineries to charming hotels and guesthouses, each and every establishment demonstrated the power of sustainable practices in shaping a brighter future for rural tourism.
